2015 is quickly approaching and most people are beginning to think about their New Year’s resolution. At the top of the list for most is some sort of weight loss goal. I think one of the biggest reasons why people don’t usually meet their resolution goals is simple: they don’t follow through. If you are one of those people you aren’t alone. The biggest issue at hand is that people don’t set realistic goals for themselves and their lifestyle. So let’s take a look at some ways you can achieve your 2015 resolutions…

Set A Realistic Goal

Most people put a specific number on their weight loss goal. So what happens when you reach it…do you just stop working out? Instead of putting excess pressure on yourself, look at weight loss in terms of your health. How important is losing weight for both your physical and mental well-being? Giving yourself an important foundation and understanding of why you want to lose weight will help you to better maintain your goal. You may want to be able to keep up with your children, or run a race with your partner/spouse. The most important factor though, is that you are giving yourself the best chance at a healthy and active lifestyle. Understanding why you want to lose weight will motivate you to actually doing so!

Reward Yourself The Right Way

The key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about working out, but also about the way you eat. Instead of jumping on the newest trend diet, look at what you are eating and start making some changes. If you deprive yourself of everything you love to eat, you most likely will fall off the wagon and end up gaining more weight than losing it. Really look at what you are putting into your body and how much of it is adding to your weight gain. It can be as simple as giving up soda, to cutting all added sugars out of your diet. Make realistic goals and once you have met them, reward yourself. Maybe there has been a special trip you’ve wanted to go on or a new item of clothing you’ve been wanting. Make sure to take care of yourself once you’ve met your goals and expectations you’ve laid out for yourself. It’s important to be mindful of your mental well-being as much as your physical well-being.

Surround Yourself With Those On The Same Path

It’s so important when setting goals for yourself that you surround yourself with people on a similar path. It’s very easy to falter and not hold yourself accountable. But when you’re surrounded with people that have similar goals and who care about your well-being, you’d be surprised about how much they want to help keep you on track. Toxic people don’t help your cause and instead pull you down. Make sure you are around people that desire the same goals and expectations out of their health as you do.

Wishing you a Happy & Healthy 2015!
